Are you a woman on the go? Whether that is a mum on the school run before work, eating a breakfast bar over the steering wheel; or a business women putting in overtime at the office that where your evening meal is a dinner-date with a vending machine.
Do you yearn for a healthier diet but think it is too much of a hassle to cook something that is nutritious and edible and, therefore, find it easier to microwave a meal or tuck into a take-away? Well don’t worry, you’re certainly not alone and help is now at hand thanks to WiN.
Joanne Pointon is a chef with 20 years’ experience. Much of that has been dedicated to healthy cooking, healthy eating, and promoting the values of a balanced and
nutritional diet. Joanne has now joined force with WiN to provide the women of Bolton with the knowledge and practical skills of making simple, healthy meals. The classes will involve food preparation, cooking skills and learning about the fundamentals of healthy cooking and eating. For example no single kind of food contains all the nutrients and fibre you need, so it’s important to eat a range of foods.
Eating the right balance from the main food groups will ensure that your body gets all it needs to stay healthy. Joanne said: “Healthy eating is not about rich nutrition, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself of the foods you love. Rather, it’s about feeling great, having more energy, and keeping yourself as healthy as possible, all of which can be achieved by learning the basics about nutrition and using them in a way that works for you.”
WiN Director, Gulnaz P Brennan, added: “Having a healthy diet is a lot easier than people think. And that’s why WiN is providing these cookery classes. With Joanne’s expertise women will be able to cook up a storm in the kitchen without having to worry about calories. But these lessons aren’t about dieting; they are about a healthy diet.”
