Bolton’s The Orange Hub receive £10k boost for their work

THE work of a group of Bolton businesswomen helping the worldwide campaign to prevent violence against women and girls has been given a £10,000 boost. The Orange Hub is an offshoot of the Bolton-based SheInspires Awards and part of the United Nations’ Secretary General’s “Orange the World” movement. This aims to stop violence towards women and girls and, to support this, the Hub created an initiative called Let’s Talk Money promoting financial independence. An event celebrating the achievements of Bolton women of all ages was held when a new book was launched at Bolton School Arts Centre. What we do We work with domestic abuse charities to identify women who need work to become independent.  In some instances, the charity may well have prepared them with their own ‘job ready’ training. The charity will provide us with a CV for each candidate that will have an anonymised name at the outset, with no address or contact details.  This is to minimise the number of organisations who know the identity of individuals in our programme.  Together with the CV, candidates will need to complete their own statement of what type of employment they might be attracted to.  We…

BOLTON Town Hall will be illuminated orange tomorrow night to shine as a beacon against domestic abuse and violence. And residents and organisation throughout Bolton are being encouraged to follow suit and dress or light up their rooms or buildings in orange in solidarity.
